Just a glimpse…of this life
On August 18, 2019 by Michelle LoveI have had a few people ask about Carly – how she’s doing after having her wisdom teeth removed on Friday afternoon. It’s no joke. She bled on one side, that was left with a gaping hole, for 15 hours. I can’t relate because my dentist opted to pull my 12-year-old molars and let my wisdom teeth stay. She truly is the toughest person I know. She doesn’t complain – ever. She doesn’t see the value in it, and honestly, after watching her brother suffer for so long, I know she feels like she doesn’t even deserve to complain.
I was waiting with video ready when IÂ was able to see her. She said a few funny things…wanted Chick-fil-a ((she had already been texting me from school that morning, saying she was HANGRY…)) I told her she couldn’t eat a chicken sandwich yet — to which she responded: “well that’s dumb”. But what caught me ‘right there’, was seeing the HUGE tears STREAMING down her face shortly after getting her into the car, and when I asked her what was wrong, her gauze-filled-mouth response was: “I didn’t get to see BJ! … I didn’t get to see BJ!!”
Sigh.
Who knows what happens inside your mind under anesthesia, but for her, I guess she was hoping to catch a glimpse of her brother.
When either of us goes through ‘hard stuff’ — that was hard stuff right there — we tend to retreat — isolate ourselves to the comfort of home and each other. So whenever either of us seems quiet — or missing — just know we’re probably dealing with something that is tough on our hearts.
