Childhood Cancer . Childhood Leukemia . Grief
5-years since diagnosis

5 years ago today, I was told that my child had cancer… The *most curable* type of childhood cancer – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.Â
Â
Immediately after being admitted to the hospital, he received his first blood transfusion. If you’ve never witnessed the change in a person with a desperate need for blood, I can only describe it as amazing.Â
Â
I watched as he turned from being extremely pale to having rosy cheeks.Â
Â
So many nights I watched him sleep.Â
Â
So many nights we just stayed awake and talked.Â
Â
So many nights he finally fell asleep holding my hand.Â
Â
So many nights of watching over him, praying for him, pleading for him, crying for him.
And still, so many nights, but now he’s watching over me.
