Childhood Cancer . Childhood Leukemia . Grief
5-years since diagnosis
On September 13, 2017 by Michelle Love5 years ago today, I was told that my child had cancer… The *most curable* type of childhood cancer – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Immediately after being admitted to the hospital, he received his first blood transfusion. If you’ve never witnessed the change in a person with a desperate need for blood, I can only describe it as amazing.
I watched as he turned from being extremely pale to having rosy cheeks.
So many nights I watched him sleep.
So many nights we just stayed awake and talked.
So many nights he finally fell asleep holding my hand.
So many nights of watching over him, praying for him, pleading for him, crying for him.
And still, so many nights, but now he’s watching over me.
