Wednesday, January 27, 2016…67 days in the hospital

BJ was moved to the PICU this morning at 0630, and his increased (tripled) dose of blinatumomab began about 1030. He had pushed his oxygen off around 0330 this morning, and his sats didn’t decrease. The nasal cannula was left on the top of his head where he put it, and he really hasn’t needed the additional oxygen all day. He developed a fever of 101.5 about an hour after the new dose started. Within 2 hours, it was back down, and has remained normal the rest of the day. His biggest complaint today was just being very tired. He didn’t sleep much last night, but has napped throughout the day. Overall, he has had a good day, and we thank God for that. We expect him to be moved back to the 11th floor sometime tomorrow.

Today was supposed to be the day we flew to Hawaii for BJ’s Make-A-Wish trip to the Pro Bowl. What an awesome time that would have been…. a world away from home, from cancer, and nothing but sunshine and fun. We’ll be there next year for sure!

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers! Please also lift up the other kids fighting cancer, and their families. Our hearts are heavy today with the news of another young life taken by this evil disease.
