BJ has been feeling good since the continuous blinatumomab infusion began Wednesday. He was awakened every 2 hours Wednesday night for neuro checks and vitals, so he was very tired yesterday. Yesterday evening, he spiked a fever of 101.5. Blood was drawn from his port and from his PICC line to send for cultures. He has been complaining of dry eyes and a sinus headache and pressure for several days, but has had no other real complaints. Last night the neuro checks and vitals weren’t as frequent, so he got a little more continuous blocks of sleep. His heart rate was elevated during the night and this morning, ranging between 130 and 150. He was on the negative for fluid intake/output, so he has received a 500mg dose of albumin this morning. This has already made a difference in his heart rate, now 100 to 110.
For now, he remains in the PICU. The doctors will evaluate him later this afternoon to determine if he could be moved back upstairs. We can’t say enough good things about this stay, and the awesome nurses in the PICU (David and Julie!!!). LCH is the best!
