He has a big week, starting tomorrow morning with a platelet transfusion, then a bone marrow aspiration and insertion of a PICC line in his arm. He can have nothing to eat or drink past midnight, which is never easy.
59 days inpatient – getting more blood and platelets – Sunday, January 17, 2016
On January 18, 2016 by Michelle LoveSunday, January 17, 2016…59 days in the hospital
BJ had a good day today although he was very tired. He got a unit of platelets this morning, because his platelet count was at 3k. That is a record low. His hemoglobin had dropped as well, and he is getting 2 units of blood tonight. He is already feeling better after a half unit. He received a blood transfusion yesterday as well, which has the medical team searching for a reason for the low count today.
He got out of the room for a while today, and also watched the Carolina Panthers pull out the win over the Seahawks. The staff looked the other way while we escaped the hospital for a short field-trip home. We had a few hours, and were required to be back at the hospital by 6:30pm before shift change. There’s just something about going home that is good medicine. BJ was able to sit on the couch and love on his puppies. He took a nap in his own bed, which was some of the best sleep he’s had in a very long time. He really enjoyed the afternoon and the Panther’s win definitely made him smile! 🙂

We are so thankful for all of your prayers, and encouraging comments. Please keep BJ in your prayers, as this fight is far from over.
