Zero white blood cells and more platelets
On August 3, 2015 by Michelle LoveThe Ara-C from the last 2 weeks has done exactly what they expected it to do. Lab work from this morning showed that BJ’s white blood cell count is zero. For the next 3 weeks or so, we’ll be hypersensitive in checking for fevers and making sure he doesn’t get sick. He has no working immune system so any fever will land him back in the hospital for IV antibiotics.
His platelet level today was 7000 (normal is over 150,000), which requires his getting a bag of platelets before can get his last 3 erwinia shots (115th, 116th, and 117th) around 2pm.
