Childhood Cancer . Childhood Leukemia
Back at LCH for the same regimen as last week. He’s currently getting his 2nd 3-hour dose. Thankfully, BJ wasn’t as nauseated as last week, but he has already developed the Ara-C rash again.
Deja vu
On July 31, 2015 by Michelle LoveBack at LCH for the same regimen as last week. He’s currently getting his 2nd 3-hour dose. Thankfully, BJ wasn’t as nauseated as last week, but he has already developed the Ara-C rash again.
Hopefully this chemo will make a difference in his MRD. The week-long daily chemo (cytoxan and etoposide) he had a month ago didn’t do a thing. Actually, the amount of leukemia cells went from 11% to 18.9%. We need it to be under 0.01% for him to be ready for a transplant. The outlook for the next month or so is that BJ will need blood and platelets, and that his ANC will be zero. ANC…absolute neutrophil count…a measure of the immune system. After his counts come back to an acceptable level, he’ll have another bone marrow aspiration to check his MRD again.
We thank you so much and ask for your continued prayers throughout this next month, that his MRD will drop to zero, and that he will not get sick while he is neutropenic.
If you would like to send him (or his sister Carly) a card, I’ve set up a post office box for him to receive mail. It’s BJ Correll PO Box 96 Denver, NC 28037.
