Post from BJ’s 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Jackson
On July 15, 2015 by Michelle LovePlease pray for BJ!
Three years ago, at the beginning of his 6th grade year, BJ entered my classroom one morning looking pale. I asked if he felt ok, and he said yes. The next day he looked even more pale, and had bruises on his arms. I asked again if he felt ok, and he said he did, but was a little tired. I asked about all his bruises and he proudly said they were from football practice. The next day, he was even more pale. It scared me. His mom immediately got him in to his doctor. We were devastated to hear that he had leukemia, but so thankful it was the type that had been successfully treated. I homeschooled BJ after school for the rest of the year. He often mentioned how he missed being at school, and his classmates missed him dearly, too. When I delivered a huge goodie basket from his classmates, full of all his favorite things, he was so very appreciative, it brought tears to his eyes. BJ and his family went through a very, very tough time, then little by little towards the end of the year he was well enough to even come visit his classmates for a short time at school! BJ is very athletic and was devastated that he would not be able to play sports for quite some time while going through his treatments. I was thrilled when I saw him in the hall at the beginning of his 7th grade year with a football uniform on! He was feeling back to normal, and we were all so happy knowing that struggle was behind him….until the recent devastating news that he is no longer in remission. Please pray for BJ and his family, and a special prayer that he will be well enough to attend his first year of high school this year.
